2 Arrested In Connection With Murder Of 4-Year-Old Boy In Highland

SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — Police Friday announced the arrest of two men in connection with the murder of a 4-year-old boy in Highland.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, Darron Daniels, 20, and Maurice Kelley, 25, were arrested on one count each of murder and two counts of attempted murder in connection with the shooting death of Daniel Munoz, of Riverside.

Around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, deputies were sent to the 7400 block of McKinley Street for reports of shots heard in the area.

Upon their arrival, authorities located Munoz suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital where he later died.

Authorities said the young boy had been playing with a stuffed animal in the front yard of his grandmother's home when the shooting occurred.

During the course of the investigation, detectives served search warrants and conducted numerous witness interviews.

Both men are being held on $1 million at the Central Detention Center.
