2 Men Arrested In Connection With Series Of 'Knock-Knock' Burglaries In Fullerton

FULLERTON (CBSLA.com) — Two 35-year-old men remained in custody on Thursday in connection with a series of "knock-knock" burglaries that were committed in Fullerton.

According to the Fullerton Police Department, Michael Joseph Billingsly and Evan James Blakely, both of Los Angeles, have been charged with suspicion of burglary and possession of stolen property among other charges.

On Monday, Billingsly and Blakely allegedly knocked on the door of a home located in the 2000 block of Via Mirada.

When no one answered the door, both men entered the backyard and attempted to open a back door of the home.

Billingsly and Blakely were scared away by dogs that were inside of the home.

According to police, a resident called 911 and gave dispatchers a description of the men and their vehicle.

A nearby officer saw a similar vehicle to the description and made a car stop. A passenger ran away on foot, but was later found hiding under a wood pile and was taken into custody.

When police searched the vehicle, stolen property from at least two other residential burglaries was found.

Billingsly and Blakely were booked into Fullerton Jail before they were transported to Orange County Jail, where they remain in custody.

Both men are believed to be responsible for at least four residential burglaries in Fullerton and several more in Los Angeles County.

According to police, these types of burglaries occur when suspects knock on the doors of potential victims. If victims answer the door, suspects quickly make up a reason for being in the area. If no one answers, suspects have been known to force open the front door or go around back.

Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to contact the Fullerton Police Department at (714) 738-6800.
