Police Search For 2 Men They Suspect Shot Out Windows Of 5 Canoga Park Businesses

CANOGA PARK (CBSLA.com) — Two men remain at large Tuesday evening after police say they drove by businesses in Canoga Park and shot out windows possibly with a pellet gun.

Police said the shootings along Topanga Canyon Boulevard started about 3 p.m., prompting the businesses to board up windows.

The shattered glass and boarded up windows startled employees and customers at two banks, two restaurants, and a Super 8 Motel.

"I was talking to customer. I heard loud 'pop.' I just dodged under [my] desk," said Raymond Kim, a Super 8 Motel employee.

Police said the suspects drove along Devonshire Street, then Topanga Canyon Boulevard, shooting out the windows.

There were people eating inside the two restaurants impacted, including California Chicken Café and 2 Die for Sushi.

No one was hurt, but an employee at one of the eateries says the pellet came through the glass.

"It came into the restaurant," he said. "They said it was crazy."

At the Super 8 Motel next door, Kim was inside and called 911 thinking a real bullet was fired.

"I would say it was reckless for sure," he said.

Union Bank put up a temporarily closed sign and, across the street, another business owner expressed his frustration.

"Property damage is needless, it's costly, it's just unnecessary," Mitchell Moore said.

At a Chase Bank branch, employees described a loud bang, but continued business as usual.

Police said the two suspects are between 18 and 25 years old.

While authorities suspect a pellet gun was used, police said they're still investigating to be sure.
