'Snowbird Bandit' Wanted In 5 Orange County-Area Bank Robberies

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA (CBSLA.com) — The public's help is needed Wednesday to capture a bank robber dubbed the "Snowbird Bandit" who has committed five robberies in Orange County, FBI officials said.

The most recent robbery happened Tuesday afternoon at First Citizens Bank, 29818 Santa Margarita Parkway, in Rancho Santa Margarita -- the second time this robber has hit this bank. FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said.

The same man has been linked to at least four other bank robberies since March in Mission Viejo, Monarch Beach and Ladera Ranch.

During some of the robberies, the robber shows a gun as he demands cash. In the Mission Viejo robbery that happened Jun 11 at Wells Fargo Bank at 24471 Alicia Parkway, the bandit carried a white pouch with the word "Medic" printed on it. At Tuesday's robbery, and at the one committed July 6 at U.S. Bank, 111 Corporate Drive, in Ladera Branch, he wore a straw hat.

The robber is described as a white man between 55 and 60, about 5-foot-9, between 180 and 200 pounds.

Anyone with information about the Snowbird Bandit's identity can contact the FBI at (310) 477-6565 or 911.
