Crews Extinguish Fire At Vacant Long Beach Home; Firefighter Injured

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Crews Tuesday extinguished a fire that erupted in a vacant home in Long Beach.

Shortly after 4 a.m., firefighters were sent to a two-story building located in the 1400 block of Atlantic Avenue for report of a second-alarm structure fire, according to the Long Beach Fire Department.

Upon their arrival, crews were able to extinguish the blaze within a half hour.

One firefighter was transported to a hospital for treatment of first and second-degree burns to the back of his neck.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, Atlantic Avenue will remain closed in both directions between the Pacific Coast Highway and Anaheim Place until around 8 a.m.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
