Vice President Biden To Visit North Hollywood Business

NORTH HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Vice President Joe Biden will stop by a North Hollywood business Wednesday to push for an increase in the minimum wage to put workers on a "pathway to the middle class."

Biden's visit is the day after the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors is set to vote on a proposal to boost the minimum wage in unincorporated to $15 an hour by 2020.

According to the White House, Biden's remarks at Bobrick Washroom Equipment "will highlight the importance of increasing the minimum wage to give anyone who works hard every day the chance to earn a livable wage and get on a pathway to the middle class."

Biden will also discuss "expanding the availability of overtime protections to make sure that millions of middle-class Americans are getting the extra pay they have earned, according to the White House.

Bobrick, which has been in business since 1906, is based in North Hollywood and has six manufacturing divisions in the United States and Canada, according to the company's website, which touts its "strong commitment to employee development."

The city of Los Angeles has already approved an incremental increase to the minimum wage, with the first boost scheduled in July 2016 and ultimately reaching $15 an hour by 2020. The wage hike expected to be approved by the county Board of Supervisors mirrors the city's ordinance.
