Unemployment Down In LA County, Up Slightly In Orange, Riverside Counties

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Unemployment was down in June in Los Angeles County, but went up slightly in Orange and Riverside counties.

According to the Employment Development Department, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Los Angeles County dropped to 7.4 percent in June, down from 7.6 percent the month before.

Seasonally adjusted numbers not available for Orange County, but the unemployment rate was 4.3 percent, up slightly from 4.2 percent in May.

Riverside County's unemployment rate was reported at 6.6 percent, up two-tenths of a percentage point than in May, due to multiple sectors of the regional economy shrinking.

However, Riverside County's unemployment rate is still down compared to a year ago, when it stood at 8.2 percent.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for California was 6.3 percent in June, down from 6.4 percent in May and below the 7.5 percent rate in June 2014. The comparable estimates for the nation were 5.3 percent in June, 5.5 percent in May and 6.1 percent a year ago.
