Getting Their Licks In! Lake Elsinore Baseball Team Comes To Aid Of Donut Store In Grande Way

LAKE ELSINORE (CBSLA.com)  —  So pop singer Ariana Grande didn't get the lack lick after all.

On Wednesday evening the Lake Elsinore Storm -- a local baseball team -- showed their support for Wolfee Donut Shop with a Patriot Donut Day.

They were sticking if, of course, to the pop star who created a mini scandal when she apparently licked some donuts for sale at the shop that were later sold to unsuspecting customers. In referring to the country's obesity problem, she also said, "I hate America."

She's apologized for the donut licking and country kicking, at least a half a dozen times.

KCAL9's Crystal Cruz reported from Patriot Donut Day and said some were ready to forgive and forget, but others wanted to make a (donut) hole lot of noise about it.

Donuts were on the house -- adorned in red white and blue sprinkles.

"Ariana Grande is a donut so there. She's a donut. She's a fool. She stuck her foot in the mouth and she's regretting it," said Bob Enball who attended the game.

In between innings there was donut catching contest and a donut race off.

There was also serious talk about Grande's patriotism.

"It was October 21st, 2010 when I was on foot patrol in Afghanistan. Me and my engineer stepped on an IED and I ended up losing my left leg and left eye," said war veteran Josue Baron.

Brian Myer lost his arm and leg.

Baron and Myer volunteer with Warfighter Made to help injured war vets. The group also encourages celebs to think before they speak.
"I guess they just forgot because of this country they were able to achieve what they were able to achieve," Myer says.

Meanwhile, while she has given a dozen apologies on social media, the owner of Wolfee Donuts says Grande hasn't personally apologized to him.
