Family Of Woman Missing Since July 4 Suspect Foul Play

OXNARD (CBSLA.com) — An Oxnard mother of two has been missing since the Fourth of July, and her family thinks foul play is involved.

Dawn VadBunker, 39, has been missing since the Fourth of July, when her mother received a text from her that said she would stay in Santa Monica for a few days before returning to the home she shares with her parents.

"I've been going through all of her things, trying to find some clue," David VadBunker said. "Dawn would never just run away."

Since that last text, David VadBunker says they have not been able to reach their adopted daughter by phone or text and there has been no activity on her Facebook account.

"Dawn posts two to three times a day," he said. "Always happy. Always positive stuff."

Dawn VadBunker works as a property manager and had a scheduled meeting with her boss – a woman they haven't been able to reach either.

"We reached out four times. And each time, absolutely no call back," Laura VadBunker said.

The Oxnard Police Department is investigating the case, while VadBunker's family is retracing her steps.

"I try not to think about what could possibly happen, but there are animals in this world – disguised as humans that do terrible things. That is my fear," David VadBunker said.

Dawn VadBunker drives a silver 2007 Dodge Nitro with California license plate 5YGB296, which also remains missing.
