Woman Wounded In Deputy-Involved Shooting In East Pasadena
PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — A Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy was involved in a shooting in the Pasadena area Friday, authorities said.
Deputies responded shortly before 11 a.m. in the 3000 block of Yorkshire Road near Madre Street in East Pasadena to a call for a "person with a gun", according to the LASD Temple Station.
Authorities said a man called 911 to say his wife, who he claimed was bi-polar, was walking around the home with a gun.
CBS2/KCAL9's Jennifer Kastner spoke to deputies who said the unidentified woman pointed a gun at them forcing a deputy-involved shooting.
It is unknown if the suspect also fired her weapon.
"I heard three gunshots. We didn't know what was going on. We thought it was fireworks," said Curtis Ci who lives across the street.
The woman's husband was taken in for questioning.
Friday evening, the LA Sheriff's Department said the suspect was a 44-year-old white female who had been shot once in the arm. She is in fair condition at the hospital.
Deputies told Kastner that they have been called out to the suspect's house in the past but they didn't say why.
No deputies were injured.
The DA's office and the office of Inspector General are helping with the investigation.
