Man Pleads To Road Rage Assault Of 83-Year-Old Man On 105 Freeway

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A 19-year-old man who allegedly punched an 83-year-old man in a fit of road rage pleaded no contest Tuesday to one felony count of elder abuse.

On March 31, Gordon Cornelius Fritz of Baldwin Village rammed his vehicle into the elderly victim's car on the 105 Freeway, a prosecutor with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office says.

After some yelling and honking, the two drivers pulled over to the side of the road, where Fritz began punching the victim in the face, according to Deputy District Attorney Philip Norris.

The elderly man exited the freeway and pulled his vehicle into a convenience store parking lot, but the defendant followed and once again punched the victim, Norris said.

This second alleged attack was seen by several police officers and Fritz was taken into custody.

After pleading to the assault, Fritz was sentenced to one year in county jail, five years formal probation and one year of anger management classes.
