Standoff In Canoga Park Ends After Felony Suspect, Girlfriend Surrender

CANOGA PARK (CBSLA.com) — A man wanted for a parole violation and his girlfriend surrendered Tuesday after an nearly five-hour standoff in Canoga Park.

Officers went to arrest Santiago Estrada, 35, who missed a court date and was also wanted for assault with a deadly weapon involving a firearm, about 1:30 p.m. before he barricaded himself in an apartment in the 6900 block of Millwood Avenue.

Police say three other people were in the apartment at the time Estrada barricaded himself in the apartment, but they got out safely.

Special units were brought in to negotiate with the suspect.
