Deadly Shooting Investigation Underway In Gardena

GARDENA (CBSLA.com) — Police Tuesday investigated the circumstances surrounding a shooting that killed one man and injured another.

Just after 3:30 p.m. on Monday, officers were sent to the 17000 block of South Vermont Avenue for report of a victim with a gunshot wound, according to the Gardena Police Department.

Upon their arrival, police located a man lying on the sidewalk while suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his chest.

During a check of the area, authorities located a second gunshot victim.

Paramedics transported both victims to Harbor UCLA Medical Center.

One victim succumbed to his injuries. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

The other victim underwent surgery. His condition remains unknown at this time.

Police have not yet released a suspect description.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
