Father Locates 2 Teenage Hikers Reported Missing In San Gabriel Mountains

SAN GABRIEL MOUNTAINS (CBSLA.com) — Rescue crews located two 17-year-old hikers Tuesday who were reported missing in the San Gabriel Mountains.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the two teenage boys went for a day hike to Devil's Canyon on Monday.

The hikers were reported missing at 9:52 p.m. by the mother of one of the boys.

Deputies located their car in the parking lot designated for the canyon trail head.

Search and rescue crews searched the area on foot throughout Monday night.

Around 5:30 a.m., one of the boy's father located the teens on his own, and then waited for search and rescue teams to find the three of them.

A helicopter will launch to assist in the search at daybreak.
