Dodgers Announce Signings Of 9 International Players

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday announced the signings of nine international players, six of which are from the Dominican Republic.

Those from the Dominican Republic include outfielders Starling Heredia, Christopher Arias and Carlos Rincon, as well as shortstops Ronny Brito, Oneil Cruz, and right-handed pitcher Ramon Rosso.

The remaining three players include right-handed pitcher Yadier Alvarez from Cuba, shortstop Luis Rodriguez from Venezuela and second baseman Aldo Espinoza from Nicaragua.

"We're excited to add nine highly skilled prospects as we continue to restock, inject talent and build depth at all levels of our organization," said Bob Engle, Dodgers vice president for international scouting.

Engle further said the signings are "a testament to the hard work of our scouts and the international appeal of the Dodger brand."

The team also acquired minor league right-handed pitcher Chase DeJong and infielder Tim Locastro from the Toronto Blue Jays.

The 21-year-old DeJong is a Long each native in his fourth year of pro ball, the team said.

The Dodgers said Locastro is a New York native, who was selected by the Blue Jays in 2013 during the 13th round of the First-Year Player draft.
