US Women's National Team Defeats Germany, 2-0, Advances To World Cup Finals

MONTREAL (CBSLA.com) — The battle between the two top teams of the Women's World Cup has come to an end, and the United States has come out on top.

The U.S. Women's National Team defeated Germany, 2-0, and will advance to face either Japan or England in the Women's World Cup Final.

After Alex Morgan was able to draw a penalty in the box, Carli Lloyd converted the penalty kick in the 69th minute to give the U.S. a 1-0 lead over Germany.

Lloyd's kick scored on the right side of the goal just minutes after Germany's Celia Sasic missed the goal completely on a penalty kick.

Kelly O'Hara then gave the U.S. a 2-0 lead in the 84th minute with a goal of her own.

Defending champion Japan, who is ranked at No. 4, will take on No. 6 England on Wednesday to decide who will play the United States.
