Mother Still Desperate For Answers In Death Of O.C. Woman Whose Body Was Found In April

ALISO VIEJO (CBSLA.com) — An Orange County family is seeking justice for their late daughter and staged a show of unity Friday night to keep attention on the case.

"It's terrible. It's terrible not knowing what happened to her," Margarita Alonso, Erica Alonso's mother, said while marching in Laguna Hills.

"Day by day, it's harder because I'm afraid maybe later they're gonna say [it's a] cold case. You know, my daughter. I just want to know what happened to her," she said.

The 27-year-old woman disappeared on Valentine's night. Her body was found in April off the Ortega Highway.

Erica was last seen on security tape from Feb. 14 leaving a Costa Mesa nightclub with her on-again, off-again boyfriend and another couple.

Detectives say the ex-boyfriend is still a subject of the investigation, but they are pursuing all leads. CBS2 attempted to speak with him at his Irvine townhome, but was told by new residents that he moved out two weeks ago.

Erica's parents are frustrated that after four months detectives aren't any closer to determining what happened to her.

"I just want answers about my daughter," she said. "I don't even know the cause of her death and that makes me more sad."

Orange County Sheriff's detectives say they want answers too and continue to actively investigate this case.
