Indian Tribes Sue To Block Southern California Solar Plant

RIVERSIDE (AP) — A group of Indian tribes is suing to block construction of a huge solar power plant in California's Mojave Desert.

The Colorado River Indian Tribes sued earlier this month after Riverside County supervisors approved the Blythe Mesa Solar Project, which would cover nearly six square miles.

The suit contends officials violated California environmental laws by failing to properly disclose or take into account the project's impact on traditional tribal homelands.

The suit also names the project developer, Renewable Resources Group.

Calls to the county and the business seeking comment were not immediately returned Wednesday.
