Boy, 17, Fatally Injured In Newport Beach Crash

NEWPORT BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Police say a 17-year-old boy was fatally injured Tuesday in a two-car crash at a Newport Beach intersection.

The crash happened at 10:20 a.m. at Jamboree Road and Bristol Street, Newport Beach police and fire spokeswoman Jennifer Manzella said.

The teen was driving a Chevrolet Suburban eastbound on Bristol when it collided with a Toyota Corolla going north on Jamboree, she said.

The woman driving the Corolla and the driver of a Porsche that was struck by debris were not injured.

The teen, a Newport Beach resident whose name was not immediately released, was thrown from the Suburban. He died at Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo several hours later.

The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation. Anyone with information can contact Investigator Scott Grecco at (949) 644-3747 or email him at sgrecco@nbpd.org.
