Report: Powerhouse Publicist Barbara Brogliatti Dies At 69

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)  —   Variety is reporting the death of powerhouse publicist Barbara Brogliatti at the age of 69.

Brogliatti died of cancer, according to the report.

Her name is not known to the public but there isn't a Warner Bros. star or any executive connected to CBS or Warner Bros. studios who wouldn't know her. She was also a publicist for many of TV's most iconic shows.

Brogliatti -- who retired in 2005 -- held sway as the executive VP and chief corporate communications officer at Warner Bros. for nearly two decades. She spent another 11 years working as lead publicist for Normar Lear's company.

Other clients included Barbara Walter, Haim Saban and DIC Animation,

Variety's Brian Lowry said she was "for a time, perhaps, the most influential publicity executive in Hollywood."

Brogliatti died at her Napa Valley home Sunday morning, according to the publication.

After years of working in show business and headed to the land of grapes and vino, she quipped she was leaving "the whine for the wine."

At Lorimar TV, Brogliatti was an early ally of now CBS Chairman Leslie Moonves.

The Valley-born Brogliatti was a UCLA graduate in 1968  and CBS publicist almost immediately following college graduation where she worked on shows  including "All in the Family" and "Dallas." Later, with Warner Bros., she worked on "Friends" and "ER."

According to Variety, she was also a long supporter of UCLA athletics and even mentored Kareem Abdul-Jabbar while he was an undergrad.
