Plane Headed To Peru Returns To LAX After Crew Thought They Smelled Smoke
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) A Lima-bound jet with 247 passengers and crew aboard returned to LAX Sunday afternoon after the crew thought they smelled smoke.
The problem turned out to be a faulty food warmer, officials said.
The 230 passengers were taken to an area hotel for the evening.
The flight -- LAN Airlines flight 601 -- left LAX at 2:05 headed for Lima, Peru. The Boeing 727 Dreamline returned to LAX and landed at 3:54 p.m.
An airport spokesperson told CBS2/KCAL9 the passengers will be put on another flight Monday.
