Success Stories Abound During 5 Years Of Stephanie's Day

STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — This weekend, families and children from all over Southern California will gather in Studio City to mark the fifth anniversary of Stephanie's Day in Los Angeles.

The event, named for CBS2/KCAL9 station President Steve Mauldin's daughter Stephanie, has been going on for 16 years across the country.

Stephanie's Day began in Fort Lauderdale, made a move to Miami, then continued in Dallas, before landing in Los Angeles. Held at the CBS Studio Lot in Studio City, the even now bring together as many as 50 organizations, showcasing the best schools, therapies and intervention programs in the area for young people with autism and other developmental disabilities.

Several success stories originate at Stephanie's Day, from the withdrawn boy who learned to love tennis, the young man who is now learning graphic design, to the girl who performed the first time at the event and now sings opera at venues like the Pantages Theatre and the Nokia Theatre.

Stephanie's Day is this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the CBS Studios in Studio City.
