Passengers Treated For Nausea, Vomiting On Fiji Airways Flight At LAX

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Paramedics were responding Monday to an undetermined medical issue involving passengers on a Fiji Airways flight at Los Angeles International Airport.

Fiji Airways flight 810 arrived from Nadi International Airport at the Tom Bradley International Terminal around 1:45 p.m, according to an LAX spokesperson.

A dozen passengers reported nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, officials said.

One person was transported for further treatment, according to Los Angeles City Fire officials.

The situation was resolved by 2:15 p.m. when the last of 272 people aboard the flight was cleared to leave the plane.

Federal health authorities also evaluated passengers and determined they did not have anything contagious, LAX spokeswoman Nancy Castles said.

A source told KNX 1070's Claudia Peschiutta the passengers may have fallen ill due to possible food poisoning.

Fiji Airways issued a statement, confirming that 13 passengers on the flight reported being sick and that the airline is investigating the cause.

"All we know at this stage is that the 13 are part of two groups travelling together and stayed at the same resort," the statement said.
