Protesters Voice Outrage Over Deadly Shootings By Long Beach Police
LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Demonstrators gathered in Long Beach on Saturday to protest several officer-involved shootings in that city.
Among the cases they take issue with is the death of Feras Morad, 20, two weeks ago and last month's shooting of 19-year-old Hector Morejon.
They were both unarmed.
According to police, Morad jumped out of a second-story window and charged at officers. They used a stun gun on him before resorting to gunfire. Friends say he had taken mushrooms that night and apparently had a bad reaction.
On the day Morejon was shot, police officers were responding to a report of vandals at a vacant apartment.
