$20K Reward Offered, Composite Sketch Released In Fatal Shooting Of Quiznos Owner
SAN DIMAS (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Tuesday released a composite sketch of the man believed to have fatally shot a sandwich shop owner and offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
Shortly before 3:30 p.m. on June 2, officers were sent to a Quiznos restaurant located in the 1000 block of West Arrow Highway for report of a shooting.
Upon their arrival, police located Pravin Raojibhai Patel suffering from an apparent gunshot wound in the parking lot.
Paramedics transported him to a hospital where he later died, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
A preliminary investigation revealed a suspect approached the cashier's counter, brandished a semiautomatic handgun, and demanded money from Patel.
Patel then handed the suspect a bag of cash, and followed the robber outside where a brief struggle ensued in the parking lot.
The robbery suspect then shot Patel.
Detectives described the suspect as a Caucasian or Hispanic man who stands 6-feet-tall and weighs 175 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black cap, black shirt, and dark shorts with a plaid pattern.
The L.A. County Board of Supervisors approved the reward for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of the Patel's killer.
