After 3-Hour Standoff, Burglary Suspect Arrested In Hollywood Hills
HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A burglary suspect barricaded himself in a home in the Hollywood Hills for about three hours Monday before being taken into custody.
The break-in was reported at about 10:10 a.m. in the 6800 block of Alta Loma Terrace, police said. Residents of the area said they heard screaming and called police.
Police surrounded the residence but the man, believed to be a transient, refused to come out, Los Angeles police Officer Liliana Preciado said. A SWAT team was ultimately called when the residents of the home said there was a firearm inside.
The man was taken into custody just before 1 p.m., police said.
As a precaution during the standoff, the California Highway Patrol shut down the Highland Avenue offramp from the southbound Hollywood (101) Freeway to limit traffic from entering the area.
