Armed Robbery Suspect Sought In Yorba Linda

YORBA LINDA (CBSLA.com) — Deputies Thursday sought the public's help to identify an armed robbery suspect.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Department, an armed robbery took place at El Torito Grill, located in the 22600 block of Oakcrest Circle, around 11:15 p.m. on Sunday.

Surveillance video revealed the suspect cut the lock to the back gate, and entered the restaurant through a rear employee entrance.

Deputies said he brandished a semi-automatic handgun, and demanded two employees hand over $5,000 in cash from a safe in the manager's office.

The suspect then fled through a back door on foot. No vehicle was seen leaving the area.

According to deputies, the suspect is believed to be responsible for at least one other armed robbery that occurred at Mimi's Café in the City of Whittier in April.

Detectives described the suspect as an African American man who stands 5-foot-9 tall, and weighs approximately 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a long-sleeve white and gray shirt, gray jeans, globes, and a white and black bandana that covered his face. He also carried a black backpack.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of this suspect is urged to contact the Orange County Sheriff's Department at (714) 779-7098 ext. 103.
