LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles Police Department is set to officially recognize ties with police from the United Arab Emirates.

LAPD Chief Charlie Beck and other department officials were expected to be on hand at police headquarters Thursday in downtown Los Angeles to culminate a "cooperative relationship" with the Abu Dhabi Police Department.

The ceremony follows weeks of training and hands-on experience with the LAPD Bomb Squad, Emergency Vehicle Operations, police canine units and other aspects of the LAPD, according to police officials.

A news conference was scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
