Community On Alert After 11-Year-Old Boy Says 2 Men Tried To Abduct Him

PALOS VERDES ESTATES (CBSLA.com)  —  The community of Palos Verdes Estates is on alert after the attempted abduction Thursday of an 11-year-old boy.

The boy told police he was walking home from a school bus stop around 3:30 p.m. in the area of Coronel Plaza and Margarita Street when he was approached by a man in a 1980s Chevy van.

The driver of the van called the boy over and asked directions to "the Promenade."

The victim began to look at his cellphone to assist the suspect. As the victim approached the front passenger door of the van, he heard the passenger door slide open. Immediately after he heard this, he said he felt someone grab his backpack from the rear and attempt to pull him into the van.

The victim said he was unable to see the second suspect. The victim quickly broke free from the second suspect's grasp and ran to his residence. He heard the van quickly flee the area.

The boy recalled seeing the same van in the same area and time Wednesday.

He described the van as medium brown with a light-colored horizontal stripe running down both sides. He described the exterior as having a lot of chipped paint along both sides. The van also had oval windows on the sides and rear with the rear windows covered by closed horizontal mini-blinds on the inside.

He described the driver of the van as a white male with a medium build, 40 to 50 years of age. He said the man had dark brown hair in a buzz cut. He also said the man had a dark tan and was wearing a tank top of an unknown color. The victim could not provide a description of the second suspect.

If you know who these men are, you're asked to call the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department (310) 378-4211.
