Van Nuys Family Loses Apartment After 4 Bug Bombs Set Off Blaze

VAN NUYS (CBSLA.com) —  A Van Nuys family set off four bug bombs in their apartment kitchen Saturday and apparently set off a blaze that made the unit unlivable.

The apartment is located in the 14000 block of West Hartland Street.

Officials said at least four bug bombs were set off in the first floor apartment.

No one was inside the apartment when the fire broke out. No injuries were reported.

The residents -- two adults and three children -- are looking for a new home.

The Red Cross was called to the location to help the family.
