Get Hotcakes For 25 Cents, Coffee For A Nickel At Encino Du-Par's Grand Opening
ENCINO (CBSLA.com) — During its Grand Opening Tuesday, the Encino Du-Par's will roll back prices to what the eatery charged in 1938.
From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the restaurant located at 16120 Ventura Boulevard near Woodley Avenue, Du-par's legendary old-fashioned buttermilk hotcakes will be 25 cents, fresh-ground hamburgers will go for 20 cents, award-winning fresh-fruit pie for 15 cents and coffee for just 5 cents a cup.
The ingredients for the pancakes, which were recently named best pancakes in America by Esquire Magazine, are so secret, the original recipe is held in a safe below the cash register.
The new location joins the original 1938 Du-par's Farmhouse at the Los Angeles Farmers Market, 1-year-old Du-Par's Pasadena and the Du-par's in Studio City, which was built in 1948.
