Exotic Bird Stolen From East LA Home; Suspect Sought

EAST LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Deputies sought the public's help Tuesday to locate a man who stole a miligold macaw from its outdoor cage of a home in East Los Angeles.

Around 10:40 a.m. Thursday, a woman heard her bird, named Mickey, making loud noises from the porch of her home located in the 4600 block of Michigan Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, East Los Angeles Station.

When the victim looked through her window, she spotted a Hispanic adult man stealing the macaw from its cage. She confronted the suspect, however, he fled from her yard with the bird.

Officials explained the woman is extremely distraught as she considers Mickey to be like a family member.

Detectives said the bird is green in color with blue and yellow accents.

A preliminary investigation revealed the suspect, who is believed to be in his mid 20s, jumped the fence surrounding the victim's front yard, and stole the macaw from its cage.
