Police Searching For Suspect In Fatal South LA Hit-And-Run

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Police are looking for a suspect in a South Los Angeles hit-and-run that left a woman dead Saturday.

Ruth Noemi Duarte, 41, was killed after being struck by two vehicles in the 1600 block of West Florence Avenue, near La Salle Avenue, around 8:10 p.m., according to the Coroner's Office.

Police say Duarte was running north across Florence at La Salle when she was struck by a dark-colored Audi SUV traveling west.

The driver and the passenger in the Audi stopped to help the woman but within seconds she was struck once again, this time by a speeding red or dark-colored SUV, according to investigators.

The driver of that vehicle fled west on Florence then north on Western Avenue, police said.

Duarte was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call South Traffic Division detectives at (323) 421-2500.
