Josh Rubenstein's Weather Forecast (May 13)

STUDIO CITY (KCAL9) — We are waiting for the rain on this hump day! A trough digging into Southern California will bring two waves of energy through the LA area.

The first wave will be Thursday afternoon bringing some scattered showers to start with. Nothing too impressive for round one. Temperatures will drop down and winds will pick up a bit.

The second wave will drop in right on the heels of the first wave. This one has a little more punch to it.

Expect anywhere from a quarter to a half inch of rain from this second system with higher rain totals in favored areas.

Foothills and Mountains could see as much as one inch. Snow levels will drop to about 5,000 feet with accumulations in the ballpark of four to six inches.

The rain should hang through Friday morning with the possibility of some brief thunderstorms bringing a quick heavy downpour along with hail.

It will be an interesting end of this work week. Things will dry up for the weekend.
