Woman Says Brother-In-Law Is Aboard Chopper Reported Missing In Nepal

MARCH AIR RESERVE BASE (CBSLA.com) — A woman says one of the Marines aboard a Huey helicopter reported missing in Nepal is her brother-in-law, who is also from the Inland Empire.

The woman from Riverside County spoke with KCAL9's Crystal Cruz but declined to share his name or photograph over safety concerns.

She, however, told Cruz he is stationed overseas and was supposed to be coming home soon.

Six Marines and two Nepalese service members were reported aboard the aircraft, which disappeared Tuesday, near Charikot, Nepal.

The chopper based out of Camp Pendleton was providing disaster relief following the recent earthquakes. Officials say it's possible the Huey had a fuel problem and landed.

Both aerial and ground searches are being conducted to find the missing chopper.

Meanwhile, the family of the local Marine has asked for the public's prayers.
