Handstand App Brings Personal Trainers To You

STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — Need a personal trainer right away? There's an app for that.

Los Angeles is home to fitness options galore, but L.A.'s terrible traffic can make those workouts less than appealing. That's where the Handstand app steps in.

"Handstand is how a lot of people like to call Uber for personal trainers," said Tiffany Hakimianpour, the creator of Handstand. "But it's more than that. It's making private training affordable and accessible.

Yulia Bratkovskaya uses the Handstand app because with her job as a horse trainer, her schedule is always changing. She personally selected Nikka to coach her through a soothing yoga session.

"It's very nice to use an app, because I can book my trainer to come to my place any time that is convenient for me," she said.

Yoga isn't the only activity you can request on Handstand. You can scroll through a list of certified and background-checked trainers and pick based on the exercise of choice.

"It's personal training, it does replace the gym. I'm an athlete myself and I have a lot of physical work riding horses, so yoga is very useful for my body and mind," Bratkovskaya said.

For a one-on-one class, it costs $49 per hour for any trainer per session and $59 for a small group. The app services LA County and parts of Orange and Ventura counties.

Handstand is free on iTunes and the Google Play store.
