Medical Clinic To Provide Services In Lynwood For Underserved Neighborhoods

LYNWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Officials Friday announced a medical clinic will open to provide services for residents who live in underserved neighborhoods of South Los Angeles.

The Eisner Pediatric & Family Medical Center, which previously focused on OB/GYN services, will provide medical, dental/oral health in addition to individual and family primary care for all ages.

A case manager will help residents with everything from legal aid, transportation, and getting food for their families.

Insured and uninsured residents that live in the areas of Lynwood, South Los Angeles, Compton, Bell Gardens, South Gate, and other surrounding communities will receive treatment regardless of their ability to pay for treatment and their documentation status, officials explained.

According to Healthcare Atlas, the area is designated as a medically underserved region. In fact, more than one in four residents are uninsured or even undocumented.

Additionally, there is a health professional shortage in the area for primary care. Health officials explained there currently is about 1,878 residents receiving treatment per primary care physician.

The newly expanded clinic now spans a total of 7,200-square-feet, and is run by a non-profit organization.
