Dentist, 51, Accused Of Committing Lewd Acts On Minor Patients

COMPTON (CBSLA.com)  —  Authorities on Friday announced the arrest of a 51-year-old Compton dentist they say committed lewd acts on minor patients.

Doctor Mohammed Kader was arrested Thursday at his place of employment, Compton Family Dentistry, according to the LA County Sheriff's Department.

Officials said two female minors, ages 12 and 17, reported to their parents that while they were seated in Dr. Kader's examination chair, he kissed them on their lips.

Both victims said they were in the room with Kader alone at the time.

The parents reported the alleged incidents to law enforcement.

Kader -- a Cypress resident -- has been practicing at Compton Family Dentistry for the past two years. He was also employed from 2009 to 2013 at Western Dental and Brighten Dental Offices located in San Bernardino County. Authorities believe there may be additional victims.

Kader was arrested for lewd acts with a minor and annoying/molesting a minor.

He is being held in lieu of $120,000 bail and is scheduled to appear at Compton Superior Courthouse court on Monday.

KCAL9's Rachel Kim spoke to concerned members of the community Friday evening.

"It's very much a concern because I feel for children in this community," said Pastor Maurice Johnson with the Kingdom Life Christian Fellowship Church

The church is located across the street from the dentist's practice. He says he will make sure parents talk to their kids.

"I will definitely make sure to tell them how concerned I am and to be more cautious," said Johnson. "Parents get more involved, ask more questions, when the doctor asks you to leave the room, ask them why."

Kim knocked on Kader's door in Cypress but no one answered.

Neighbor Manuel Ramirez says he doesn't know the doctor, but is alarmed as a father of two teenage girls.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department Special Victims Bureau at (877) 710-5273.
