Shooting In Pacoima Blamed On Accidental Discharge Of Officer's Gun

PACOIMA (CBSLA.com) — A reported officer-involved shooting Wednesday in Pacoima was due to the accidental discharge of an officer's gun, but no injuries were reported, police said.

Officers from LAPD Foothill division were responding to a location at De Foe Avenue and Van Nuys Boulevard for a "parolee compliance search" when a law enforcement officer accidentally fired his gun, an LAPD spokesperson said.

The law enforcement officer's organization was not immediately known, said Officer Liliana Preciado of
the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations office.

It wasn't immediately clear how or why the gun was fired.

There was never any threat posed to officers, according to LAPD Media Relations.
