Crews Battle Brush Fire In Santa Clarita

SANTA CLARITA (CBSLA.com) — Crews Monday are working to contain a brush that has erupted in Santa Clarita.

According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, crews were sent at 12:07 p.m. to Clampitt Road and North Sierra Highway. Members of the Los Angeles City Fire Department have also been sent to assist.

Inspector Rick Flores explained the fire is currently burning uphill, across 1.5-acres in medium brush.

Authorities believe a car that caught on fire near the side of the road may have been what caused the brush fire to erupt.

Firefighters were seen from SKY9 overhead extinguishing flames that were burning on the vehicle.

Shortly after 1 p.m., crews had contained 70 percent of the fire.

No injuries or evacuations have been reported at this time.

Authorities explained no structures in the immediate area are being threatened by the flames.
