Armed Man Reportedly Holding 3 Hostages In Westlake Taken Into Custody

WESTLAKE (CBSLA.com)   —  Officials say an armed man who was allegedly holding three hostages in Westlake has been taken into custody.

The incident took place in the 200 block of Carondolet and 2nd Street.

The first reports of the possible hostage situation came into police just after 7:05 p.m.

The man was taken into custody about 9:40 p.m.

Authorities said upon arrival they were able to ascertain that an assault with a deadly weapon took place.

The suspect, an adult male, ran from law enforcement and then reportedly barricaded himself inside an apartment nearby.

Authorities brought out the heavy weaponry including a SWAT team, K-9 unit and dozens of police cars.

KCAL9's Brittney Hopper reporting from the scene said that the man had three hostages.

She also reported no one was injured.

It was unclear if the suspect was related in any way to the hostages.

Hopper spoke to neighbors  who said they were on edge through most of the two-and-one-half hour ordeal.

"It was pretty wild," said one man.
