Whittier Woman, 38, Charged In Hit-And-Run That Killed Family Dog, Seriously Injured Mom, Child

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA)  —  A 38-year-old Whittier woman has been charged with the hit-and-run accident of a family in South Pasadena that left a dog dead and a mother and child with serious injuries.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced Friday that Tiffani Monique Lowden was charged with one felony count of hit-and-run driving resulting in injury to another person and one misdemeanor count of driving when privilege is suspended or revoked.

On Dec. 21, 2014, Bryan and Alexandra Hollen were walking with their 4-month-old infant daughter and dog in a crosswalk near Orange Grove Boulevard and Columbia Street when they were allegedly struck by the defendant's SUV, prosecutors said.

Hollen and her baby were dragged a few feet and the family dog -- a 7-year-old Boston Terrier named Babell -- was killed in the crash, prosecutors added.

The charge includes an allegation of great bodily injury to child and her mother. Hollen sustained a broken nose, the baby had two skull fractures. The father received minor injuries.
