Firefighters Extinguish Raging Lincoln Heights Fire

LINCOLN HEIGHTS (CBSLA.com) — Firefighters quickly gained ground Friday on a raging fire that started at a shed in Lincoln Heights.

The fire erupted in the 2300 block of Hancock Street near N. Broadway, reported Sky 2's Stu Mundel, who was over the scene just after 5:30 p.m. to find the main home fully engulfed and flames spreading to other structures.

"This fire spreading to the structures behind it and next to it," reported Mundel. "The buildings they have in the backyard destroyed. They have three, maybe four structures that they are trying to protect."

Units from the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived on scene and appeared to have gained a handle on the blaze as of 6 p.m., reported Mundel.

The LAFD later said via Twitter that it took 58 firefighters 21 minutes to extinguish the blaze.

The exact number of impacted structures was not immediately known.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
