Local Fan On Highly Anticipated Pacquiao-Mayweather Fight: 'It's Like Christmas'

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Local fans of Manny Pacquiao say they'll be glued to their television sets Saturday night as the 36-year-old Pacquiao faces Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the highly anticipated boxing event.

Lucy Hernandez owns Bahay Kubo Restaurant, a Filipino restaurant, in Los Angeles' historic Filipinotown and says the establishment is one of Pacquiao's favorite places to eat when he trains in L.A.

Hernandez says Pacquiao is a national legend within the Filipino community.

"And he always helps Filipinos in the Philippines," she said.

"He helps a lot of people. Almost the whole town," an unidentified man said.

Just down the street over at Bernie's Teriyaki, they too will be rooting for Pacquiao.

"It's more like an inspiration, really. Because of him, the Filipinos like become well-known," another fan said.

Both restaurants expect to be very busy Saturday with take-out orders but say it was too expensive to buy the fight at their establishments.
