Man Beaten With Baseball Bat In Hate Crime Dies Of Injuries

RIALTO (CBSLA.com) — A man who was severely beaten with a baseball bat in what is being called a hate crime died Thursday, police said.

Armando Barron was pronounced dead at 11:20 a.m. Thursday by doctors at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, four days after being found with life-threatening injuries in the 300 block of North Maple Avenue in Rialto.

Jeremiah Bell, 22, of Fontana was arrested Monday at his apartment on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the attack. On Wednesday, Rancho Cucamonga District Attorney's Office filed attempted murder charges with a hate crime enhancement against Bell.

Bell, who is being held without bail, is scheduled to make his first court appearance Friday.
