Church Worship Leader, Social Worker Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Child Repeatedly

RANCHO CUCAMONGA (CBSLA.com) — Police Wednesday announced the arrest of a 51-year-old man who is suspected of sexually assaulting a young child on several occasions.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department received a report on Monday from the Child Abuse Hotline regarding the possible sexual abuse of a child under the age of 10-years-old.

A preliminary investigation accuses Dexter Carl Pleasure, of Rancho Cucamonga, of repeatedly sexually abusing a child for the last several years.

Pleasure was subsequently arrested without incident at his home located in the 10700 block of Church Street.

According to police, he was employed as a social worker with a private foster care agency, and as a worship leader at a local church in the City of San Bernardino.

As part of his job, he took children to doctor's appointments and visitations, officials explained.

Detectives are concerned there may be additional victims as Pleasure had access and control to several young children through his occupation.

He is being held on $350,000 at the West Valley Detention Center on suspicion of oral copulation of a child under 10-years-old and continual sexual abuse of a child under 10-years-old.

Pleasure is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.

CBS2's Tom Wait spoke to some of Pleasure's neighbors.

"It's horrible. It's scary," said neighbor Angela Corns.

Helen Jones says she tried to steer clear of her next-door neighbor.

"He was friendly," she says, "too friendly. My daughter is 4. And he would always want to play with her, he would say 'hi' and I would say, come on, let's go in the house."

According to Pleasure's Facebook page he was employed at a foster care agency in Corona. A spokesperson for that agency told Wait that Pleasure worked a desk job  and never had any access to children in his three years with the agency. He was fired for not managing his caseload. The spokesperson said there was never any allegations of sex abuse.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department  (909) 477-2800.
