Woman Pleads Not Guilty In Connection With Dog Attacks
LOS ANGELES (CBS/AP) — Prosecutors say a 56-year-old Los Angeles woman faces felony charges in connection with several attacks on people by her dogs.
Cheryl Hooks pleaded not guilty Tuesday to three felony counts of negligence of owner of mischievous animal causing injury.
The complaint accuses the North Hollywood resident in three different dog attacks in 2013 and 2014. One victim was allegedly bitten on the face by the defendant's dog while house-sitting.
Prosecutors say the second incident involved a 7-year-old boy who required surgery after Hooks' dog attacked him in her driveway,
The most recent attack allegedly involved a dinner guest of Hooks' who was bitten in the face.
Hooks, who face four years in jail if convicted as charged, is scheduled to return to court on May 27.
