Police: Girl, 11, Nearly Kidnapped By Tattooed Man In Ontario

ONTARIO (CBSLA.com) — Police are searching for a man who they say tried to kidnap an 11-year-old girl in Ontario.

The girl told police that a man approached her Friday in the area of 5th Street and Berlyn Avenue at about 7:15 a.m. and grabbed her by the hand and arm. When the girl began screaming for help, he let her go and told her if she told anyone, he would harm her and her family, police said.

The suspect left the area on foot with another man, south on Berlyn Avenue, police said.

Police say the girl waited until Sunday to report the incident in fear of harm to her or her family because she had seen the suspect the previous day, standing by a playground fence.

The suspect was described as a white man 18 to 20 years old, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, between 150 and 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He had a name tattooed on his neck, a large tattoo of a dragon on the upper portion of his right arm, and multiple scratches on his right forearm that appeared to be fresh. He was last seen wearing an unknown colored short with cut sleeves and black pants.

A second man possibly involved was described as Hispanic, in his 30s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 140 to 150 pounds, last seen wearing a black long sleeved shirt and black pants.

A woman, who may have been involved, was described as about 17 to 18 years old with long, curly black hair, brown eyes, short sleeved shirt and blue jeans. She was with a 6-year-old boy and last seen driving an unknown make and model black car.

Anyone with information about the attempted kidnapping can contact Ontario police Detective Newland at (909) 395-2898 or the Ontario Police Department at (909) 395-2001.
