Disturbing Home Security Video Captures South LA Hit-And-Run
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A home security camera caught disturbing video of a reckless driving suspect hitting a pedestrian during a brief pursuit in South Los Angeles.
The incident took place around 5:30 p.m. Sunday at 43rd Place and Central Avenue, officials said.
The graphic video shows the male pedestrian walking with a shopping cart when he was struck by a white Audi driving at a high rate of speed.
A pursuit ensued and ended a short time later at 51st Street and McKinley Avenue after the unidentified woman crashed into two parked vehicles.
The suspect was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries. She was expected to be booked on numerous charges including drunk driving and felony hit-and-run.
The victim was also transported to a local hospital.
"It didn't look like he was going to make it though, because when they put him on the gurney his leg was missing," witness Awki Wilds said.
The unidentified man remained in critical condition Monday.
The investigation was ongoing.
