Woman Reportedly Stabbed Multiple Times In La Verne By Unknown Assailant

LA VERNE (CBSLA.com) — Police sought the public's help Thursday to locate a man who stabbed a woman while she walked her dog.

According to the La Verne Police Department, officers were sent around 6:06 p.m. Wednesday to Las Flores Park, located in the 3100 block of Bolling Avenue, for report of a victim of a stabbing.

When authorities arrived, they located a 21-year-old woman suffering from apparent stab wounds.

Paramedics treated the victim at the scene. She was airlifted to County USC Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

A preliminary investigation revealed the suspect stabbed the victim multiple times to her upper body and then fled from the area on foot.

Detectives described the suspect as a Caucasian man in his 20s that was last seen wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt, with the hood over his head, and blue jeans.

Police said the suspect is not known to the victim. She also told police the assailant walked up to her without saying a word and began stabbing her.

KCAL9's Tom Wait spoke to residents in the neighborhood. He said their shock was quickly turning to fear.

Debra Hamilton saw the victim.

"She was laying in the grass over this hump over here and then I saw the cops going down our street and that grabbed my attention," Hamilton said.

A weapon was not recovered, Wait reported.

Officials are looking for more witnesses.
